Design sessions help your team capture the reasoning behind design decisions. Use them during brainstorming, trade studies, or design reviews to record what was discussed and why.

Creating a session

Create a design session from the Design Sessions page. Each session has:
  • Title and description
  • Linked nodes — Connect the session to relevant parts of your architecture
  • Importance level — Prioritize sessions by significance
  • Status — Track whether a session is in progress, completed, or archived

Recording events

As your session progresses, add events to capture key moments — decisions made, options considered, trade-offs discussed. Events create a timeline of the session’s progression.

AI summaries

After a session, Tandem’s AI can generate a summary of the key decisions, action items, and engineering intent captured during the discussion. Summaries are stored with the session for future reference.

SolidWorks integration

If you’re using the SolidWorks add-in, design sessions can be created automatically from your CAD workflow, capturing design changes and decisions as you work.
